Re-enquiry for transport information on the london cycle routes

The request was partially successful.

Dear Transport for London,

I am Leroy dyer from London south bank university, i am currently
conducting research into the London cycle scheme and its effect on
London traffic and relief of passenger overcrowding on the London
associated bus routes. Choices made by travellers, by the options
available on congested routes, by commuters or student travel Etc.

for all areas situated within the central London areas

particularly the areas covered by the London cycle routes and
surrounding areas.

I am particularly interested in methods of travel and reasons for
travels and distances travelled.

i have previously requested the data from the office of national statistics and their recommendation was as follows

"As the focus of your request is travel in London the majority of the
information is best coming from [1]Transport for London, in particular two
reports: [2]Travel in London and [3]London Travel Demand Survey".

i would like to request the data from the above surveys as suggested by the office of national ststistics

i think it would be prudent to request that the data begin from the
year 2000 until the most recent release. monthly and annual data
would be preferential.

i would like to request that the data be in usable form such as a
CSV or an excel spreadsheet form.

I would also welcome any guidelines on the usage of the data. I
would also be interested in any insights on how to present or gain
answers to any points I have previously raised. if there is any
other relevant data you feel may help i would welcome it.

Yours faithfully,

Leroy Dyer

Dear Mr Graham Hurt,

Barclays Cycle Hire statistics
Details of all Barclays Cycle Hire journeys made from the beginning of the creation until jan 2013.
with the fields,
Journey ID
Bike ID
Start date
Start time
End date
End time
Start docking station
Start docking station ID
End docking station
End docking station ID

as with the sample data upon the website.

i would also like a list of docking stations by route name, for categorizing the data.

this data would be very helpful if not satisfy most of my questions.

hopefully this was a part of the data being comprised from my original request?

i hope this clarify's my request as the gap between requests and responses is so great.
i understand that this is a very large amount of data,

i would also be available to travel TFL offices to collect any data on dvd, if it is unable to be displayed here or even too large to be contained on the website, as the offices are local to the university my home.

Yours sincerely,

Leroy Dyer

Dear Mr Dyer

Our ref:  FOI-0777-1314

Thank you for your email received on 31 July 2013 asking for more data
counts.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that
we do hold the information you require.

Unfortunately, to provide the information you have requested would exceed
the ‘appropriate limit’ of £450 set by the Freedom of Information
(Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.

Under section 12 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to comply with a
request if we estimate that the cost of determining whether we hold the
information, locating and retrieving it and extracting it from other
information would exceed the appropriate limit. This is calculated at £25
per hour for every hour spent on the activities described.

The information you have requested in not held in a format which we can
easily locate and retrieve. To provide you with the information would
require various individuals to manually locate, identify and extract all
of the information into a disclosable format, vastly exceeding the
appropriate fees limit of £450 / 18 man hours as described above.

It is worth noting that in the last few months, in response to previous
FOI requests you have made, we have provided you with considerable amounts
of information, including Barclays Cycle Superhighways reports and cycle
counts, Travel in London reports, London Buses & London Trams passenger
data and revenue information, Barclays Cycle Hire reports and data and the
London Travel Demand Survey.

Whilst we have provided information to your previous requests, section 12
of the FOI act allows for the provision to aggregate requests made by the
same individual, for same or similar information, all received within a 60
working day period.  Please be advised that any further request received
by you within this period will be subject to consideration of an aggregate
cost limit which will take into account the amount of time already spent
providing responses your previous FOI requests.

Further information is available for you on our website. For example, maps
are available showing cycle hire docking stations, bus routes and the
congestion charging area, and therefore you may wish to use this
information to get some of the information you require.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached
information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely

Graham Hurt
