RE: Demand to see bank statement to claim travel expenses to attend a job interview

Currently waiting for a response from Department for Work and Pensions, they should respond promptly and normally no later than (details).

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please provide/disclose any and all information/documents you hold that allow the jobcentre to demand to see a bank statement from a claimant when that claimant has submitted a claim for travel expenses to attend a job interview, after the claimant has provided all relevant information in respect of the journey, namely: train/bus tickets; letter from employer; completed claim form.
Please could you state under what legislation and/or regulations that give the jobcentre the "right" to see this information, bearing in mind that a claimant`s bank/financial information is PERSONAL, PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL.

Yours faithfully,

Declan Murray
