Dear FOI,
Hi I am simply requiring the service levels of the two buses I have mentioned, 18 and 41 as per request over last year.
I.e. from shudehill (18) and 41 (from nu stop Victoria stn) Manchester going to oxford road direction but back also..
I.e. All cancelled, all late, all on time, none shows, accidents, complaints - basically all** data associated with these two services over the last 365 days from present..broken down as much as above
I want to see their performance in a nutshell.
Thank you.

If still unclear, pls provide a number I can call you on?

Mr Neall Saeed

Yours sincerely,

N Saeed

Dear FOI, Nicola -
Thanks for the response - I'll be honest its illogical and seems like you responding to someone else..
GoNorth and Stagecoarch as regulated by TFGM correct?
You hold their data on timetables, late arrivals, cancellation etc, correct?

My request was simply to obtain:
'Under FOI, expect data and information full service of this bus* for last 365
including not limited to: complaints, cancellations, none shows, time table
changes, lateness etc. Full details.
That is:
Bus 18, stagecoach from shudehill to MRI all last 365 days please.
In addition, bus 41 from stop nu Victoria station Middletown going same way,
up oxford road..
Same breakdown..via Go NW. '

Yes you say Go North W and Stagecoach as not regulated by you and commercial???
i.e. 'Services 18 and 41 are operated commercially and as such we hold no data on them in terms of
operated mileage or other service delivery issues. ' HUH?

Then awkwardly, you go onto some copy paste (sorry to be direct but seems evident) some random thing about funding????
i.e. 'Where services are not deemed by operators to be commercially viable, TfGM
can provide financial support if it is deemed to be necessary'

I am sorry to say, this is nonsense?
You should? hold data and delivery service data about Stagecoarch and Go North West

Sorry perhaps I'm completely wrong, I need service delivery info. I thought TFGM regulates the service delivery in greater manchester region? And as both GO and Stagecoach are commercial businesses, they do not fall under FOI > however surely, as a citizen I am able to obtain service delivery info as its a public service?
Pls advice.

Dear Mr Saeed

Please feel free to call me on the number I called earlier but to provide a bit of context to our response.

TfGM do not regulate bus operators in Greater Manchester. Most bus services are run by commercial operators (businesses) with no involvement from TfGM.

However, where TfGM see that there is a need for a bus services at a particular time, on a particular route, but the operators find that they would not make money on that route at that time, TfGM would step in and subsidise the service so that the service runs for passengers and the operator covers their costs. For example, TfGM only subsidise the 41 at the times on the above timetable that have the TfGM "M" symbol above them.

Therefore, we can only provide you with information about the services at the times we subsidise.

I hope this help to clear up any queries you have but if you have any further please don't hesitate to give me a call.

Kind regards

Nicola

Dear.Nicola,
Thanks for getting back.
Not sure if you received last msg yesterday?

I was trying to clarify irrespective of what you saying, sure there is oversight and
SLAs contractual with
Any bus company* providing public services? To the public..i.e.
Whatever contract or none? You have with GO NW or Stagecoach, who is responsible for keeping
An eye if they providing services necessary and to satisfaction (service delivery); bring late, cancellelations
Or can they do whatever they want (not turn up, cancel etc) and have no service level agreements?
If they do, who keeps this data?
If only say, Stagecoach keeps this without oversight... 1. What is the point 2. As a non-public body they do not even need to disclose this? Correct?

Thx

Yours sincerely,

N Saeed

FOI, Transport for Greater Manchester

Dear Mr Saeed

TfGM do not have any SLAs with bus companies for the commercial services that they run. The Traffic Commission has oversight of the bus operators and can be contacted using the below details.
