Re: adequate scheme in place for socialisation of animals to be rehomed.
Dear Home Office Science Advisory Committee,
Please could I see the advice you have provided to the Secretary of State regarding the 'adequate scheme' for ensuring the socialisation of the animal being set free or re-homed?
I am not asking about the advice note 03/2015 Re-homing and setting free of animals and do not need information about this. The advice note makes no reference to the 'adequate scheme' or provides any advice on this matter and neither does the advice note on wild animals.
However the Secretary of State with responsibility for the Animals in Scientific Procedures Act has a direct responsibility to ensure that the 3R's are fully employed and all the functions under the Act including rehoming.
The Secretary of State relies upon the Home Office Science Advisory Committee for advice under this act and has to be 'satisfied' that the conditions are met. They would not be able to do with this without advice which means they would be failing to implement the ASPA in this particular functions.
If you do not and have not provided advice which enables the Secretary of State to measure satisfaction can you please explain why not? If it is not your committee can you please direct me to the responsible body who enables the Secretary of State to fulfill her role?
Yours faithfully,
Linda Birr-Pixton

There was no answer provided to my FOI on this matter of an 'adequate scheme' for rehoming. Instead I was quoted the use of the Carltona Principle and also sent the ASRU audit form.
Of course I have asked for an internal review on the 10th December 2024.
I am recording this here publicly that to date there is no evidence of any adequate scheme for rehoming animals in laboratories.
