Re: Request for information
Thank you for your email of 3 March 2024, in which you request information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
Before I deal with your request, it may assist if I set out the RCVS’s obligations as a public authority.
Under the FOIA, members of the public are entitled to request information from public authorities. The
FOIA covers any recorded information held by that public authority. The FOIA does not oblige a public
authority to supply copy documents (although where it falls within the scope of the FOIA it should
supply information contained within those documents) nor does it oblige a public authority to provide
information that is not recorded in some form.
Now turning to your email of 3 March 2024, your request for information is as follows:
I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding
the Royal Col ege of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Statutory Membership Examination for
foreign veterinarians for the past five years.
Specifically, I would like to request the fol owing information for each of the past five years
(2019-2023):
1. The total number of foreign veterinarians who appeared for the RCVS Statutory
Membership Examination.
2. The total number of individuals who cleared the first written part of the examination.
3. The total number of individuals who cleared the second practical part of the
examination.
4. The total number of individual who became ful y registered with the RCVS.
