RCVS SME Blueprint
Dear Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons,
I am writing to request information under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding the Statutory Membership Examination (SME) for veterinary surgeons.
I had sent an FOI request on 21 April 2024 via the WhatDoTheyKnow website, asking RCVS the following question:
"Could you provide information regarding the guidelines for determining the number of questions from specific 'species of animal' and 'body systems' to be included in each final paper? For example, 10 questions from dog orthopedics, 5 questions from cat infectious diseases, and 7 questions from horse lameness."
In response, RCVS replied:
"This question refers to the assessment blueprint. The blueprint was originally developed to be aligned with the relative species and systems in place across UK vet schools and is reviewed and ratified by the SME Board each year."
I would like to request the said assessment blueprint finalized and used during the last three years (2021, 2022, 2023).
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/r...
I anticipate your prompt response within the statutory timeframe of 20 working days, as stipulated by the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Yours faithfully,
Arpit Prajapati
