RCU referrals due to media interest

The request was refused by Home Office.

Dear Home Office,

Guidance for caseworkers on transferring or referring cases (available here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk...) notes that "in cases that are high profile and posts are considering refusing because approving the application would be non-conducive to the public good, or where there is media interest, you must refer to RCU as soon as possible after the application has been received."

Please supply the number of cases that were referred to the RCU because caseworkers assessed that there was media interest. Please supply a total figure for such cases between 01/01/2019 and 31/12/2019.

Yours faithfully,

Mary Atkinson

Dear Home Office,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of the Home Office's handling of my FOI request 'RCU referrals due to media interest' (case ref 59660). The refusal gave no detail as to why responding to the request as originally submitted would cost over the allowed limit. I request that an internal review is carried out to ascertain whether the information requested is in fact stored in an accessible format that would not require a manual search, as posited in the Home Office's original response.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/r...

Yours faithfully,

Mary Atkinson
