RBC financial contribution towards Samuel Cody's statue

The request was successful.

Dear Rushmoor Borough Council,
It is my understanding that RBC made a voluntary contribution of around £10.000 towards the total cost of the Samuel Cody statue, unveiled on the 7. august 2013.

Can you please confirm, or correct this figure of £10.000, and, advise out of what funds this amount was paid.

Yours faithfully,

J.R. Passon

Carla Stack, Rushmoor Borough Council

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request.

The Council paid £13,500 towards the cost of the Samuel Cody Statue on 23 February 2012. This was funded by Section 106 Contributions of £10,000 and existing Capital Receipts of the Council of £3,500. This was paid as a grant and was not expected to be repaid. £10,000 was a contribution towards the statue itself while £3,500 was towards ancillary costs such as landscaping.

In addition, the Council agreed to underwrite the phased payments to the sculptor should the fundraising not have reached the target levels by the time each payment was required. Therefore £16,600 was paid towards the cost of the Samuel Cody Statue on 29 July 2013, as a loan which was repaid to the Council in two payments, the first of £10,000 on 3 November 2014 and the second of £6,600 on 29 April 2015.

I hope that this answers your question satisfactorily, but if you are unhappy with the reply you have received, I attach a link to the Council’s Complaints Procedure, which is the means by which you may request the Council to review it.
