Dear Prime Minister’s Office,
Could you please disclose who is responsible for:
a) signing international treaties and conventions on behalf of the UK
b) ratifying such treaties and conventions.
Please state to what extent signing obligates the UK to fulfill treaty and convention provisions.
If a convention or treaty is relevant to a matter before a UK Court, at which court level, if any, is the court obliged to take the treaty or convention into account in making a judgment.
Why are treaties and conventions not submitted directly to Parliament for ratification/accession?
Jan Cosgrove (Mr)
