Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

In response to a recent FOI request, the DWP disclosed that during an online event held on 25 May 2023 organised by the DWP's National Race Network and promoted by the DWP's so-called "Race Champion" (i.e. Neil Couling), thirteen civil servants openly expressed or endorsed the view that:

(a) His Majesty's Government is cynically using race and difference for ideological reasons

and that

(b) people have been encouraged to be openly racist following comments made by the Secretary of State for the Home Department.

Here is a link to the relevant FOI request: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/d...

(1) Please provide any information held by the DWP which supports the allegation that His Majesty's Government is cynically using race and difference for ideological reasons.

(2) Please provide any information held by the DWP which supports the allegation that people have been encouraged to be openly racist following comments made by the Secretary of State for the Home Department.

(3) Please confirm whether the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for the Home Department have been notified by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions of the allegations openly expressed and endorsed within the Department for Work and Pensions?

Yours faithfully,

Isaac Roberts
