Race Relations Act 1976 - GMC exemption?

Mr R Booth made this Freedom of Information request to General Medical Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear General Medical Council,

The race relations act 1976 specifically prevents discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, ethnic origin and national origin. This applies to all organisations and individuals.

May I ask on what basis does the GMC feel itself to be exempt from this legislation which permits itself to continue to be institutionally racist and continue to discriminate against ethnic minority doctors on the basis of the colour of their skin?

Under the FOI act I request this information where the GMC deems itself to have an exemption.

Yours faithfully,

Mr R Booth
