Quit smoking budget
Dear Public Health England,
I read in the press recently that quarter of Public Health England's marketing budget will be spent on stopping smoking. The article states "The organisation will spend a
quarter of its £55m marketing budget on anti-smoking campaigns this year, its marketing plan shows. Tobacco control will be its top priority, with a series of
national ad campaigns being run."
I would like to make an official Freedom of Information request asking for the following information.
a)Please provide a breakdown of how this budget will be spent by period (by year, quarter or month) and by activity (creative production vs spend on purchasing space/airtime etc).
b) Please provide details of what specific campaigns are planned.
c) Please supply copies of the department’s cost-benefit analysis or other supporting documentation used to justify this level of expenditure on more quitting-smoking campaigns.
d) Please supply information on what activities PHE is undertaking to support or promote the uptake of electronic cigarettes.
Yours faithfully,
S Rogers
Please find attached Public Health England's response to your request for information.
