Question relating to the proposed works at Bisham Roundabout

Mike Post made this Freedom of Information request to Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead,

It is reported in the lastet edition of the Maidenhead Advertiser, "Changes set for A404 at 'commuter hell' Bisham roundabout”, that £1.8m is to be spent on "improving" Bisham roundabout. This is the reported view of Paul Harrison,a user of the roundabout:"Bisham roundabout is commuter hell and is a real danger to motorists. Often I can spend up to 15 minutes queuing up to get onto it from Marlow road and that's before you have to play the daily lottery of trying to avoid being smashed by a passing car as you wait for a big enough gap to drive off. .I welcome plans to improve the roundabout but at the same time it gives me a feeling of added dread knowing the queues are set to get worse and my commute even longer. Serious thought must be put into the plans and whether they will actually help motorists and not delay them even further.”

According to the Highways Agency, the RBWM has agreed to these works.

Since I beleve that the proposed works will make the roundabout even more dangerous with even more chance of "being smashed by a passing car", I should be grateful if you would provide me with, or permit me to see, copies of all consultations with local people and communications with the Highways Agency relating to the modelling of traffic at the roundabout and the safety audit that was performed. I should like to see the modelling used and the safety audit.

Can you please provide me with evidence that the proposed new layout would increase safety for drivers joining the A 404 from Bisham Road.

I believe that many local users of the roundabout will share my concerns and that it is proposed to spend £1.8m making the roundabout more dangerous than it already is.

Thank you in anticipation.

Yours faithfully,

Mike Post

Dear Mr Savage,

Thank you for your reply of today's date.

With respect, the request is not concluded.

I asked to see or to be provided with copies of all consultations with local people and
communications with the Highways Agency relating to the modelling
of traffic at the roundabout and the safety audit that was performed. I understand that you do not hold the documentation provided by the HA. Will you please, however, provide me with the formal communications with the HA in which the RBWM approved the proposed "improvements"?

Thank you in anticipation.

Yours sincerely,

Mike Post
