Query about medicine with foundation year

The request was successful.

Dear University of Nottingham,
I am writing to gain some insight into how applicants are shortlisted and then offered a place for Medicine A100 with Foundation year. I would like the questions below answered for the previous 5 years.

Firstly, what is the average Foundation year applicant's UKCAT score and what is the lowest score of a successful applicant(in gaining an interview and offer) in the past few years?

Once UKCAT is used in ranking applicants, how are personal statements/references used in interview/offer shortlisting?

When making an offer, is it just interview performance that is used, and not UKCAT/any other selection criteria?

Yours faithfully,

Nya Rupan

Dear Nya

I am writing further to your request for information regarding A108 Medicine with Foundation year applications. A search of our electronic and paper records has been completed and I can confirm that the information requested is held in part by the University.

In answer to your request:

I am writing to gain some insight into how applicants are shortlisted and then offered a place for Medicine A100 with Foundation year. I would like the questions below answered for the previous 5 years.

The code for Medicine with a Foundation year is A108 rather than A100.

Firstly, what is the average Foundation year applicant's UKCAT score and what is the lowest score of a successful applicant(in gaining an interview and offer) in the past few years?

Information for 2015, 2016 and 2017 entry is no longer held.

2018 entry - average in gaining an interview 2610
2019 entry - average in gaining an interview 2346

Once UKCAT is used in ranking applicants, how are personal statements/references used in interview/offer shortlisting?

For the past five years, personal statements have been scored out of a total of 16 points. The reference is read but not scored. The personal statement score is added to the previous scores for GCSE’s and UCAT scores. The UCAT results have been scored using the scoring system here:
https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/medicine/st...

When making an offer, is it just interview performance that is used, and not UKCAT/any other selection criteria?

For the past five years, offers have been made based on an applicant’s total score at interview.

If you are unhappy with the way in which your request has been handled and wish to request a review of our response or to make a complaint, please see the attached information sheet and form.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any enquiries regarding this email.

Yours sincerely,
Karen Page

If you don’t mind me asking, I would like to ask you the following questions:
1) Do you still give scores for personal statement for the 2020 entry ?
2) What has been the lowest and highest overall score(GCSEs and UCAT) that you select for interview for the past 2 years ?

Yours sincerely,
Nya Rupan
