Department for Education

Dear Jane Webb

Thank you for your request for information, which was received on 05/06/2015. You requested

“Did the teaching staff of Christ Church Primary School, Hampstead hold adequate teaching qualifications during the period of 2014?
Christchurch Hill, Hampstead, London NW3 1JH, United Kingdom”
I have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the Act”).

We are unable to confirm whether we hold the information you have requested as we do not record the information by school name. The information we hold is recorded on individual teacher records by teacher name. We would therefore need you to provide the following identifiers, for each of the individual teachers, to positively identify each teacher and confirm their Qualified Teacher Status (QTS):

· Full name
· Date of birth
· National Insurance Number
· Teacher Reference number

If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.

If you are unhappy with the way your request has been handled, you should make a complaint to the Department by writing to me within two calendar months of the date of this letter. Your complaint will be considered by an independent review panel, who review panel, who were not involved in the original consideration of your request.

If you are not content with the outcome of your complaint to the Department, you may then contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.

I find it concerning that parent's are unable to evaluate a teacher's qualifications, as access to an individual's National Insurance number is not easily acquired unless you are their employer.

Surely it is reasonable for parents to request this information. In light of the epidemic levels of institutionalised child abuse taking place in this country. One in twenty children are being abused and Justice Goddard herself recognises this to be an underestimate.

This is a strange response. The school workforce census is collected from schools and contains information about the qualifications of all teachers.
Full details of the school workforce census can be found at
