Dear Nursing and Midwifery Council,

- What is the difference between a 'panel' and 'committee' in regards to your organisation?
- Have Fitness to Practice panels now replaced the separate 'Health' and 'Conduct and Competence' committees, as per the 2017 changes?
- How many panel members sit on the FtP panel?
- How many (or what approximate percentage) of panel members are registered nurses?
- What qualifications do the non-nursing panellists hold?
- What qualifications do your screening staff (who you claim are "...experts at information gathering and fact checking") generally hold?
- What qualifications do your 'case examiners' generally hold?

Yours sincerely,

Katie

Dear NMC,

This delay is significant, and you have not explained the reason for it. I made the request on the 8th February which you acknowledged and you can therefore note that I have already waited over the time limit as dictated by law.

Can you tell me the cause for the delay and the reason you are not adhering to the law in this case?

Yours sincerely,

Katie

What is the difference between a 'panel' and 'committee'? in regards to
your organisation?

The committee house all appointed members at a given period. A panel

Have Fitness to Practice panels now replaced the separate 'Health' and

The Conduct and Competence Committee and the Health Committee were
combined into a single Fitness to Practise Committee following changes to
our legislation in 2017.

How many panel members sit on the FtP panel?

This information is available here

nurses?

165 members of our Fitness to Practise Committee are registered nurses or

What qualifications do the non-nursing panellists hold?

We do not collect this information.

What qualifications do your screening staff (who you claim are "...experts
at information gathering and fact checking") generally hold?

We have six Clinical Advisers who are registered nurses or midwives. We do
not hold information about our screening staff in the format you are
requesting.

What qualifications do your 'case examiners' generally hold?

We have 9 Case Examiners who are registered nurses or midwives. 11 Case
Examiners are lay members and we do not hold information on their
