Punishment for failure to register trust

The request was partially successful.

Dear HM Revenue and Customs,

Under FOI regs, since the inception of The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 which requires registration of trusts (unless exempt), please provide:

1. The number of trusts that have been punished for failure to register for each calendar year since 2017.

2. The range of punitive measures that were taken - or, if too onerous, the average financial penalty imposed.

Yours faithfully,
Mike

Dear Information Rights Unit,

Many thanks for your response. I'm not sure if this counts as a review or a separate FOI, but can you possibly let me know:

1. How many warning letters have been issued since 1 January 2017?
2. How many of those trustees or agents have subsequently complied and registered their trusts vs how many have not?

Yours sincerely,
Mike Sutherland
