Please provide me with the following information with regard to events of the past six (6) years:-

1. Has any overflow of sewage occurred at this pumping station or within 150m? If so, please provide details.

2. Have there been any operational failures at this pumping station caused by equipment failure or loss of power? If so, please provide details including dates and approximate non-functional time of the pumping station for each incident.

3. Describe what systems are in place at this pumping station to raise an alert or response to equipment failures, power outages, or sewage overflow situations.

If you decide that you are exempted from providing any of this information, please provide the statutory provision for the exemption, the class of exemption applied and your reasons for applying the exemption.

Dear Mr Irvine,

 

Thank you for your environmental information request. Please find our
response to your questions below.

 

Please provide the following information regarding Brookside (Chalgrove)
Sewage Pumping Station (SPS) (OX44 7SG) over the past six years:

 

I. Has any overflow of sewage occurred at this pumping station or within
150m? If so, please provide details.

 

Please find a record of sewer overflow or sewage release incidents
recorded within 150 m of Brookside (Chalgrove) SPS since 1^st January 2014
on the attached word document titled: EIR 19-20-265 Record of sewer
overflow or sewage release incidents 2014 – 2020 (redacted).

 

II. Have there been any operational failures at this pumping station
caused by equipment failure or loss of power?  If so, please provide
details including dates and approximate non-functional time of the
pumping station for each incident.

 

Please find a record of alarms for operational issues at Brookside
(Chalgrove) SPS since 1^st January 2014 on the attached xlsx document
titled: EIR 19-20-265 Brookside Chalgrove SPS record of operational issues
- alarms - 2014 – 2020.

 

 

III. Describe what systems are in place at this pumping station to raise
an alert or response to equipment failures, power outages, or sewage
overflow situations.

 

The Pumping Station has a multitrode outstation which was installed in
February 2014. Prior to this, there was a different outstation which would
have provided slightly limited signals compared to the outstation
currently in place. The current outstation is set up to give data on the
signals listed below. These are configured to raise alarms and events of
varying severity which trigger various speeds of response by the Thames
Water 24/7 Control Centre.

Internal Review

 

If you feel that we have not dealt with your request for environmental
information properly, you can ask us to reconsider our response. Your
complaint must be made in writing and will need to be made no later than
40 working days after you receive our original response.

 

We will carry out an ‘Internal review’ of your complaint to decide whether
we have complied with the requirements set out in the Environmental
Information Regulations 2004. We will inform you of the outcome of our
internal review as soon as possible, and no later than 40 working days
after receiving the complaint.
