Thank you for your recent request for information which we are dealing
with under the Freedom of Information Act.

In order to process this request further we need to clarify the following:

- the number of complaints received per year in relation to dogs before
the control, - Could you please specify how many years you would like the
figures for?

Your request will be placed on hold until we receive your response.

If we do not receive a response by 8^th November we will close your
request.  If after that time you still require the information please
resubmit a new FOI request.

below for ease of reference. Your request has been treated in accordance
with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and/or the Environmental
Information Regulations 2004.

I can confirm that we hold information that falls within the scope of your
request. The answers to your questions have been provided in red text
below.

I am interested in understanding the effectiveness of public spaces
protection orders for dog control. With this in mind, if you hold the
information can you please disclose to me any of the following:

Clarification Thank you for acknowledging so quickly. I'm not sure when
Newport City Council enacted the PSPO for dog control, but two years
either side would fine. If you do not hold this information in that
format, may I please ask for information for the past five years and I
would also like to ask on what date the PSPO for dog control was enacted
by Newport City Council.

- an effectiveness review of the public spaces protection order for dog
control,   A review has not been conducted to date

- the number of complaints received per year in relation to dogs before
the control,  Approximately 2-3 a year.  Due to the format in which
complaints were previously recorded we are unable to provide an exact
figure.   

- the number of complaints received per year in relation to dogs in public
spaces after the control. 3 complaints regarding behaviour of dogs in
parks/open spaces areas have been received so far this year
