Public Forum on Bristol Histopathology Inquiry

The request was partially successful.

Dear University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust,

South Gloucestershire (LINk) - Local Involvement Network, North Somerset LINk and the Bristol Patholology Review Lay Reference Group have all called for a public forum with local NHS organisations to discuss public concern about the conduct and outcome of UH Bristol's Inquiry Panel's review. The Lay Reference Group is unanimously in favour of the forum.

UH Bristol and other organisations have repeatedly refused to provide this forum. Earlier this year the Trust Governors were requested to support public calls for the forum.

On 5th May 2011, Mrs Elizabeth Corrigan, the then Governor Representative advised that a clear majority of governors were of the view that this request - from two LINks and an NHS Review Lay reference group, should not have the support of the Trust's Membership Council.

Please provide the names of the Governors who voted on this decision, and for each one, state whether they voted for or against the public request and whether they are still in post.

Foundation Trust Governors are bound by the normal standards of public life in relation to openness, honesty and integrity. Therefore I am sure that they will not countenance any secrecy in this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs D Havercroft
