£600 spend on crib by Council
Dear Hayfield Parish Council,
I noted from the minutes of the Council meeting held on 2 December 2015 ( http://www.hayfield-pc.gov.uk/meetings-p... ) that £599.98 was spent on 04/11/2015 to Hayfield News for "Purchase of Crib".
Can you detail exactly what the "crib" is used for and where, why the Council funded its purchase, and why it was deemed necessary to spend only £0.02 less than £600 of locals' council tax on this item?
Also was it the cheapest price available, and good value?
Yours faithfully,
Dave Moon
Dear Hayfield Parish Council,

Hello David,
the Crib and figures were displayed as a Nativity Scene outside St
Matthew Church in Hayfield over the Christmas period.
The Council funded this item as it felt the Scene would be welcomed by
the Parishioners.
We spent only £0.02 less than £600 as this was the price.
The purchase represented best value.
Thanks,
Brian Smyth,
Clerk Hayfield Parish Council.

So a councillor (Cllr. Bevins) has bought the goods - presumably via his business "Hayfield News" since that's who the reimbursement was to. And Hayfield News is run by himself and the Vice Chairman of the Parish council (who is also his cohabitee). Presumably the invoice was in his company's name so the Parish Council has been unable to reclaim the £100 Vat on the bill
Why aren't your finance committee agenda and minutes on your website (unless of course that would show that Cllr. Bevins & cohab are on the finance committee and approving payments to themselves). Or for that matter where on your website is the Model Publication Scheme which you have been required to have for over 6 years.
