The request was successful.

Dear Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council,

In today's Liverpool Echo, it is reported that 4,000 dog owners in Knowsley have been fined for not clearing up after their pets.

Can you please advise:

- how many officers issued these fines
- if they are part of a dedicated team to tackle this issue
- the cost of this team (staffing and associated costs)

Yours faithfully,

Ian Lewis

Dear Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council's handling of my FOI request '£300,000 Fines for dog owners'.

The length of time taken so far for such a simple request is unnacceptable.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...

Yours faithfully,

Ian Lewis

So much for their swift response Ian....presumably they think an immediate acknowledgement will give them more opportunity to hedge the questions....an interesting tactic that Wirral dont seem to have picked up......yet

Dear Cllr Lewis

Please accept my apologies for the delay in the response to your freedom of information request, which has now been sent to you today. We receive a significant number of requests and we endeavour to complete these requests whilst ensuring that all other critical tasks are completed appropriately.

With reference to your FOI request, I can advise that the information in the article reported by the Echo was incorrect. The correct article can be found at http://www.knowsley.gov.uk/news/news-and....

The number of Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) issued includes those for littering offences.

Prior to responding to the remainder of your request for information, can you please confirm whether you require information just for the FPNs served for failing to remove dog faeces or for litter offences as well.

Yours sincerely
