Provision of single sex toilets
Dear Home Office,
Dear Home Office,
According to the Times of 17 February 2021 in 2018 you spent £40,000 to convert 10 single-sex toilets in your Marsham Street office into mixed facilities.
The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992. Regulation 20, Sanitary conveniences, states:
"sanitary conveniences shall not be suitable unless ... separate rooms containing conveniences are provided for men and women except where and so far as each convenience is in a separate room the door of which is capable of being secured from inside."
Please:
Say how many toilets in the building are a separate room the door of which is capable of being secured from inside.
Say how many toilets in the building are not a separate room the door of which is capable of being secured from inside.
Say how many of those toilets that are not a separate room the door of which is capable of being secured from inside are:
1. Male only.
2. Female only.
3. Mixed sex.
Please state whether or not the number of toilets available for each sex conforms to the minimum number of facilities set out in the approved code of practice under the regulations.
Yours faithfully,
S White
