Provision of free snuff for members

The request was successful.

Dear House of Commons Commission,

While I was watching the BBC programme, "Inside the Commons," I noticed the reporter mentioned the previously free provision of snuff for members had recently ceased. When did this decision take place and who was it made by? Secondly, is the remainder of snuff left to be worked through by members, or was it destroyed?

Yours faithfully,

Ned D. Donovan

Dear Mr Donovan,

Freedom of Information request F15-057

Thank you for your request for information as copied below. You asked a
number of questions regarding the free provision of snuff for Members
which we have sought to answer below.

1.   [..] the reporter mentioned the previously free provision of snuff
for Members had recently ceased. When did this decision take place and who
was it made by?

And

2.   Is the remainder of snuff left to be worked through by Members, or
was it destroyed?

The reporter on the ‘Inside the Commons’ programme was incorrect in his
assertion that the provision of snuff for Members had ceased.

Snuff is available and there is no intention to cease its provision.

You may, if dissatisfied with the handling of your request, complain to
the House of Commons. Alternatively, if you are dissatisfied with the
outcome of your request you may ask the House of Commons to conduct an

Commons, London SW1A 0AA or [1][House of Commons Commission request email].  Please ensure
that you specify the full reasons for your complaint or internal review
along with any arguments or points that you wish to make.

If you remain dissatisfied, you may appeal to the Information Commissioner
at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF,
