Provision of cargo bike parking spaces

The request was partially successful.

Dear City of Edinburgh Council,

I am interested in how much of your secure bicycle parking is suitable for cargo bikes. Cargo bikes are typically longer and wider than traditional bicycles so not all of your provision will be accessible or appropriate in terms of not blocking thoroughfares or being accessible.

I'd like to know a) how many bicycle parking places you provide and b) how many of those you consider appropriate for cargo bikes.

If the data can be broken down by Ward or locatity area that would be very helpful.

Thank you for your help,

Yours faithfully,

Dan Farthing

and b) how many of those you consider appropriate for cargo bikes.

The spaces above represent mostly Sheffield parking stands, with some
being “Cyclehoops”.

The Council does not currently have dedicated parking provision for cargo
bikes.  Most Sheffield stands are suitable for use by cargo bikes,
provided there is enough space around the stand.  However, we do not hold
records of which Sheffield stands in the city are likely to be suitable
for use by cargo bikes.

We are currently considering specialist parking solutions and new layouts
of Sheffield stands to cater for different cargo bike designs and
dimensions and aim to provide some suitable facilities within the next
phase of the ongoing roll out of cycle parking facilities.

Please note that where we do not hold the information you requested this
is a formal notice under section 17 of the Act.

Cycle parking is available on our Council Atlas at the following link:
