Provision of Broadband Internet Connections to Schools

Suffolk County Council did not have the information requested.

Dear Suffolk County Council,

Please provide to me the total number of schools (all types - E.G. maintained, Academy, Free School, etc), within the Suffolk County Council boundary for which you have provided broadband internet connections, by calendar year for the last five years. To avoid confusion, please ignore Middle Schools that have closed during this time.

For calendar year 2018, please also provide the number of schools which have given notice to terminate their contract and/or have ceased their contract.

Yours faithfully,

G Davison

Dear Suffolk County Council,

Thank you very much for your very speedy reply.

In terms of historical and current provision, please can you check with with your Network Services team as I'm sure they will have a records of the number of network IP addresses that they do or have managed for schools, and those that have been terminated or re-directed this calendar year.

I have not asked for any information regarding names or school type, just a single figure total number of schools supplied each calendar year.

If it is easier not to exclude Middle Schools that have closed then that will be fine.

Can your DPO confirm that your wholly owned trading arm "School's Choice" accecpts FOIA requests?

Yours sincerely,

G Davison

Dear Mr Davison

Thank you for your email, we have spoken to the team who provided the response to your request and they have confirmed the following:

"Schools Choice provide IT services to any schools which request them. So the work is done by them on behalf of schools
Schools manage their own budgets therefore can choose any provider / supplier for any work they need done. Schools Choice do offer services such as this, but schools do not have to choose them."

Kind regards
Becky
