Provision for cyclists using cycle route 51 at the new Hare Green roundabout on A120 in North Essex

We're waiting for Keith Frost to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Highways England Company Limited,

I have tried and failed to get a response telephonically to my request for the details of the provision for cyclists at the new Hare Green roundabout on the A120 to the east of Colchester, Essex. Could you please provide details of what action is being taken to prevent cyclists using National Cycle route 51 being forced onto the new roundabout at the A120 which is now being built. The route 51 at this site is also part of the North Sea Cycle Route Eurovelo 12. Neither the press release published in the East Anglian or the relevant section of your website shows how cyclists will be saved from having to cycle onto a major trunk road.

Yours faithfully,

Keith Frost

Dear Highways England Company Limited,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Highways England Company Limited's handling of my FOI request 'Provision for cyclists using cycle route 51 at the new Hare Green roundabout on A120 in North Essex'.

I made a freedom of information request on 20th July 2018 and received an automated response which questions whether I had addressed the correct authority, 20 days later I have received no indication that my request is being dealt with. My request made it clear that I had already approached Highways england telephonically and had been told my request would be answered but received no reply. It is approaching the deadline for my request to be answered and at present I assume that it is not being dealt with. Can you either address my request or direct me to the formal complaint procedure. the only other alternative is for me to approach the local press and cycling organisatisations.

I look forward to a non-automated reply which at least appears to take my request seriously.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...

Yours faithfully,

Keith Frost

Ford, Kelly-Anne, Highways England Company Limited

Dear Mr Frost

REF: 18807625

Thank you for your enquiry of 20 July, concerning cycle route 51 in
relation to the new Hare Green roundabout being constructed. The
information you have requested is information we make available to the
public on a regular basis.

Your request has been handled under normal business practices and not in
accordance with the Freedom of Information Act/Environmental Information
Regulations.

Firstly I would like to offer my apologies for the time taken to respond
to your query and the need for you to get back in touch for a response. I
have however been looking into your enquiry.

In relation to your query about the provision for cyclists at the new Hare
Green roundabout, it is our intention to provide a new crossing facility
for non-motorised users which will run from the western section of the
Harwich road parallel along the southern end of the new roundabout and
then connect to the eastern section of Harwich Road. The facility will
retain NCR 51 along the local road network at this point to negate the
need to negotiate the new roundabout. I can confirm that non-motorised
users will not be forced onto the new Hare Green roundabout.

I hope this answers your concerns. If you have any queries about this,
please contact our project sponsor Geoff Chatfield who will be happy to
respond, quoting reference number 18807625. Geoff can be contacted by
telephone on 0300 470 4788 or by email at
[1][email address]

If you feel the information supplied is not sufficient you may wish to
complain. The complaints procedure is available via our website at:
[2]https://www.gov.uk/government/organisati...

If you require a print copy, please phone the Information Line on 0300 123
5000; or e-mail [3][Highways England request email].

We are keen to improve the service we provide and identify where we have
done well. To help with this we would be grateful if you could take our
short feedback survey based on this response by clicking
