Prosecutions under the Mobile Telephones (Re-Programming) Act 2002
Dear Crown Prosecution Service,
Please provide statistics on prosecutions for mobile phone reprogramming offences as follows:
Since the above Act came into force on 4th October 2002, how many prosecutions have there been, in each calendar year
(a) for the offence of changing a unique device identifier or interfering with a unique device identifier i.e. under s.1 (1) ?
(b) for the offence of possession of anything which may be used for the purpose of changing or interfering with the operation of a unique device identifier, i.e. under s.2(1) ?
(c) for the offence of supplying anything which may be used for the purpose of changing or interfering with the operation of a unique device identifier : i.e. under s.2(2) ?
(d) for the offence of offering to supply anything which may be used for the purpose of changing or interfering with the operation of a unique device identifier: i.e. under s.2(3) ?
For each year in which there were prosecutions, how many of the total prosecutions resulted in convictions, and how many resulted in acquittals ?
