Dear I Hudson

In order to progress with your request please can you clarify if you are seeking to know how many prison staff have committed an offence in prison or whether you are seeking the number of prison staff who have committed an offence outside of prison ie anywhere

The current deadline will be paused until clarification is received.
If clarification is not received within 1 month of the date of this email, we will consider this request closed

Dear Information Management Unit,

I am more concerned with a total of prison staff that have committed an offence inside prison, but if it's possible to have totals for both that would be useful as a member of prison staff committing an offence outside prison would still raise concerns on their fitness to work within the justice system.

Yours sincerely,

I Hudson

Dear Crown Prosecution Service,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Crown Prosecution Service's handling of my FOI request 'Prosecutions for crimes by prison service staff (smuggling of contraband and so on)'.

I am concerned that FOIA requests such as this are being rejected on the grounds of supposed "manual checking" when legal data is generally if not entirely held in electronic format these days and so a computerised search could be done which would not consume the times claimed in the rejection.

For example a check of police FOIA requests, will find they simply search the free text using search terms and there's no reason the CPS could not do the same, the police incidents are a far higher volume of data as many of those never make it to the CPS.

If the 2,468 cases were simply searched by an automated query for either "staff" or "employee" that would suffice, if the case citations were provided, at least then I could manually narrow down from that list.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...

Yours faithfully,

I Hudson
