Proposed Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) - Bawsey

The request was successful.

Dear King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council,
Your held a consultation on a proposal to close an Unsurfaced County Road in Bawsey. This road is on Norfolk County Council's List of Streets as being publicly maintained and open to all users.
According to your own web site this ran from Monday 22 May to Tuesday 20 June. However, there is nothing to say what is going to be done. Very poor, as it's now August.

I have made several enquires asking for the result and made suggestion about alternative solutions, which would allow MPV's continued access. However I have not had any replies to my emails. In view of this I am resorting to this FIO request

1. Please provide the total number of consultees that made comments.
2. The number that were in favour of the closure and the reason for each of these.
3. The number that were against the closure, and the reason for each of these.
4. Based on 2 & 3 has any decision has been made, and if so what?

Yours faithfully,

Martin Sullivan

008631 TO BOROUGH COUNCIL OF KINGS LYNN AND WEST NORFOLK

Thank you for your request for information.

The information you requested is below:

1. Please provide the total number of consultees that made comments. 68
2. The number that were in favour of the closure and the reason for each
of these. 12 – The use of vehicles in the commissioning of crime was the
predominant reason for support.
3. The number that were against the closure, and the reason for each of
these. 34 – primarily because of public access, some concerns over
disabled access to the Bawsey Lakes.
4. Based on 2 & 3 has any decision has been made, and if so what? The
order as it currently stands will not be going ahead and there will be a
fresh consultation in due course, expected to be September. All
respondents to the previous consultation will be advised in addition to
the usual public notification.

You will note that there is a discrepancy in the figures there were an
additional 22 responses that objected to the order as it stood but would
be supportive if amendments were made around access, specifically for
motorbikes.
