Proposed pit site development - Cotgrave

The request was successful.

Dear Rushcliffe Borough Council,

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act that you make public the results of the supposed 'Public Consultation' conducted in Cotgrave in March 2010, into the proposed development of the former Cotgrave Colliery site.

I request, please, documented evidence of the outcome of the consultation, detailing levels of support and dissent for the scheme registered by residents. I also request, under the Act, a copy of any resultant documentation that the Council is considering in deciding whether the proposals can go ahead.

There must, by now, be some official document, containing details of the public response to the development proposals, and I would be grateful if you could please send that through as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully,

Penny Bunn (Ms)

In their recent response, Rushcliffe Borough Council have FINALLY answered the questions I was asking at the start of my enquiries; answers which I think could have been given months ago, by Cotgrave Town Council and then by Rushcliffe Borough Council.

This entire exercise with the respective councils has been an utter nightmare, a real struggle for information, and the result of it all is that I've now had to register complaints with the Local Government Ombudsman, the Information Commissioner's Office, and the Standards Committee. The way the whole matter has been handled, by both councils, has been disgusting, in my opinion.

Mr Cox's letter tells me what I suspected all along, and asked many times without getting a response; the report into the 'public consultation' held in Cotgrave last March does NOT exist. When it does, it will not be published as a separate document, but will be contained within the summary of a larger document that considers broader issues around planning in South Nottinghamshire. Anyone, from either council, could have told me all this months ago. I am livid at the amount of time, and energy, I have had to put in to such a simple request for information I am legally entitled to ask for.
