Proposed Gravel Extraction at Marlingford

The request was successful.

Dear Norfolk County Council,

Has NCC entered into any agreement with the proposed operator of the Marlingford Gravel workings in the same way it is reported to have done in respect of the proposed incinerator in West Norfolk and, if so, is there a similar arrangement to pay compensation if the project is not approved?"

Yours faithfully,

John Cowan

Sharp, Deirdre, Norfolk County Council

Dear Mr Cowan,

We have now processed your request of 19 March 2011, in which you asked:

"Has NCC entered into any agreement with the proposed operator of
the Marlingford Gravel workings in the same way it is reported to
have done in respect of the proposed incinerator in West Norfolk
and, if so, is there a similar arrangement to pay compensation if
the project is not approved?"

In answer,

1) There is currently no proposed minerals operator of the site in the
parish of Marlingford and Colton, reference MIN 54. At present there is no
minerals or waste planning permission for this site. The proposal to
extract minerals has been submitted by land agents on behalf of the owners
of the site. Details are available online at
[1]http://norfolk.jdi-consult.net/ldf/readd...

2) Norfolk County Council has not, and will not, enter into any formal
commercial agreement with the proposers of the site in Marlingford and
Colton, or any potential sand and gravel sites. Where the council requires
sand and gravel for any purpose, these are purchased on the open market,
with no preferred supplier.

Yours sincerely,

Deirdre Sharp
