Dear Sefton Borough Council,

1. Please post here a copy of Seftons Allotment Strategy

2. Please show/list all communication of whatever form both internal within Sefton MBC and to and from any external parties, in connection with the proposed disposal of allotment land within Birkdale i.e Benthams Way/ Moss Rd and any other proposed disposals of similar land

Yours faithfully,

Dave Thompson, Sefton Borough Council

Mr Willis

I refer to your email requesting information to be disclosed under the Freedom of Information Act.

This has been passed to our section as we manage allotments in Sefton.

My response to your two queries is as follows:

1] The Council's Allotment Strategy has not yet been adopted and is only in a draft form. Once complete it will be available for publication. The Council previously had a former Allotment Startegy in the 1990s but this is now out of date. If you wish that this document be provided to you please advise me of a postal address or email and I will have it made available to you. However, I would stress that this document is not currently in use for determining policy on allotments.

2] As the managing section that oversees allotments, we have had no dialogue with any body or persons concerning disposal of allotment land in Sefton. Therefore, I have no communication from us to disclose to you.

However, I am aware that West Lancashire Council are considering plans to build on land occupied by allotments within their local authority area and there has arisen press coverage of this matter. Sefton Council has been consulted on this and tomorrow evening the Council's Planning Committee will consider a report entitled West Lancashire Local Plan Preferred Options. This is a document that is disclosable to you and I believe it is downloadable from the Council's website shoud you wish to see it. If you have difficulty downloading the document please let me know and I will be pleased to seek a hard copy or email it to you.

I hope this information is of assistance, please contact me if you have any further queries,

kind regards

Dave Thompson
