Progress on Independent Commission on Social Care (Baroness Casey)
Dear Department of Health and Social Care,
Please answer the following questions on the work of this Commission:
1 According to a DHSC press report Baroness Casey met "carers, disabled people, advocates and campaigners" on 29 April to mark the start of the Commission's work. Please name the national organisations who were invited to attend the meeting and explain why Silver Voices, the largest representative campaign group for individual pensioners in the UK and with a long history of commentary on the social care crisis, was not invited to attend?
2 Please supply a list of the attendees at the meeting on 29 April 2025?
2 We are not aware that any meetings with the opposition parties to seek consensus on the work of the Commission have yet taken place. Are these meetings still to proceed and, if so, when will they commence?
3 Baroness Casey is still working on the grooming audit. How many hours a week is she allocating to the Social Care Commission at the current time?
4 When will the "national conversation" with the public on this issue commence and when will details of how the public can engage with this work be published?
5 What is the current work programme of the Commission and what support team has been allocated to it?
Yours faithfully,
Dennis Reed Director Silver Voices
