Dear Stuart Hardwicke Carruthers,

This email is in response to your request made under the Freedom of Information Act and copied below.

The web page you refer to contains a clerical error at the time that will be rectified. Mr White has in fact been appointed as a Visiting Professor, having previously been employed as a Senior Research Fellow in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology.

Visiting Professorships are not advertised, but are offered to specific individuals through nomination by the Head of School and approval by the College's Academic Board or by the Master of the College in his capacity as as Chair of the Academic Board.

The Master gave approval to the appointment on 4 February 2009, having received a nomination from the Head of the School on 3 February. The Visiting Professor appointment procedure does not require interviews. The post is funded by the College central budget (85%) and the School local budget (15%).

Our equal opportunities policy can be found here

Yours sincerely

Katharine Bock
