Dear Mr King,
We have completed the compilation of information in response to your
request.
We can confirm that we do hold some information of the description
specified in your request and this is provided in the attached zip file.
Please be advised that we are not required to create new information in
response to an FOI request, therefore this file contains copies of the
organisational charts that are currently held by the University, and which
may vary in detail.
Information on the University Executive Board (Senior Management Team) can
be found here:
[1]UEB
Names of staff currently employed by the university are exempt by virtue
of Section 21 of the FOIA - information accessible to applicant by other
means. You can find the information you need by using our on-line staff
directory, which can be searched using the University of Reading Search
page at:
[2]Staff Search
Alternatively a list of Administrative and Service Departments can be
found here:
[3]Departments and Services
The organisational charts we currently have available vary in creation
date; changes in staff that may have occurred, specific roles and remits
of staff, and details of temporary staff, may not be publically available.
Due to this, and in respect of our privacy and Data Protection obligations
to those staff who may not currently be on the staff search list for any
reason, staff names (where this was included in the charts) have been
removed and withheld under Section 40 of FOIA – personal information
(indicated by ‘redacted’ or blackout).
Section 40 allows a public authority to withhold information under the
FOIA where (i) the requested information is personal data relating to
someone other than the requester and (ii) its disclosure would breach any
of the Data Protection Act (DPA) principles. In this case, we believe that
disclosure of this personal information, in respect of staff that may fall
into the categories listed above, would not be within the reasonable
expectations of those individuals, and it would be unfair to do so. This
would constitute a breach of the DPA , and this information is therefore
withheld from disclosure.
Section 40 is an absolute exemption; we are not required to conduct a
Public Interest Test.
We are required to include details of our complaints procedures, including
your rights to apply to the Information Commissioner. The procedure is
detailed in our Freedom of Information and Environmental Information
Regulations policy on the web at
[4]www.reading.ac.uk/freedom-of-information-policy
If we are unable to resolve any complaint, you can complain to the
Information Commissioner, the independent body who oversees the access to
information regimes:

Please note: The supply of documents and information under the terms of
the Freedom of Information Act 2000 does not give the applicant or whoever
receives the information any right to re-use it in such a way that might
infringe the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (CDPA), for example,
by making multiple copies, publishing or otherwise distributing the
information to other individuals and the public. Breach of copyright law
is an actionable offence and the University expressly reserves its rights
and remedies available to it pursuant to the CDPA and common law.
