Dear Shrewsbury Sixth Form College,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information requests.
I would like to request the following breakdown of the hardware maintenance and costs across the college group :

A list of the models of the physical servers, storage devices, tape libraries, network switches and routers under support contracts; as well as the cost and duration of said contracts, with start and end dates and service level associated with the equipment.

Could you also supply the names of the suppliers of aforementioned support services?

I would also like request the name of the person/s in your organisation responsible for the maintenance support contracts

I would also like request the tender framework that was used to procure W.T Parkers and System4 as network installers across the facility.

Yours faithfully,

Mr M [name removed]

Mark Brown,

Dear [name removed],

Further to my previous email please find below our response to your request.

A list of the models of the physical servers, storage devices, tape libraries, network switches and routers under support contracts; as well as the cost and duration of said contracts, with start and end dates and service level associated with the equipment.

I can confirm that the College holds much of the information you requested under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act. However, we consider this to be exempt under the provisions of the Act. Our Technical Services staff believe that disclosing details of the technical hardware which you request would increase the risk of the College computer systems being hacked. Therefore it is our opinion that any public interest that would be served by the disclosure of details of our hardware is outweighed by this increased risk, so we decline to provide this information under schedule 36 (prejudice to the effective conduct of public affairs) and schedule 31(1)(b) (prevention or detection of crime).

Some of the IT infrastructure is purchased with extended warranties which are included in the overall purchase/lease price of the equipment, the costs of which are not readily identifiable and obviously have multiple expiry dates based on the original purchase dates. Where we have the information available, we consider it to be commercially sensitive and therefore exempt under schedule 43 (commercial interests).

Could you also supply the names of the suppliers of aforementioned support services?

As indicated above we consider this to be commercially sensitive and therefore exempt under schedule 43 (commercial interests).

I would also like request the name of the person/s in your organisation responsible for the maintenance support contracts

Any IT maintenance/support contracts are agreed through the Financial Regulations purchasing process then subsequently monitored by the Technical Services Manager; Robin Breakwell.

I would also like request the tender framework that was used to procure W.T Parkers and System4 as network installers across the facility.

The value of the work undertaken by these two supplies has not exceeded the threshold for a tender process; as defined by our Financial Regulations. Therefore, no tender framework was required.

We believe this response fulfils our obligations whilst appropriately applying exemptions within the FOI Act where appropriate.

Best regards,

Mark Brown
