Dear The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust,

In my request below, when I mention ‘construction consultancy services’ I am referring to Architectural Services, Civil and Structural Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Clerk of Works, Energy and Sustainability Consultancy, Health & Safety Advisory or Principal Designer services, Cost Consultancy, Project Management, Interior Designer and Building Surveying.

Please could you provide me with responses to the following:

1. How you currently procure construction consultancy services, if via a framework(s) can you list the names of the framework(s) used.

2. The total value spent on construction consultancy services in the past 2 years, broken down by year.

3. Which suppliers provided these services, with a percentage break down of the value distribution.

4. How you currently procure building contractor services, if via a framework(s) can you list the names of the framework(s) used.

5. The total value spent on maintenance and construction in the past 2 years, broken down by year.

6. Which suppliers provided these services, with a percentage break down of the value distribution.

7. Can you provide a copy of your current estates / property plan / strategy (or similar) and the value of your estates/property budget for the next two years.

Dear Mr Reid,

 

This is to acknowledge receipt of your request for information relating to
construction consultancy services. This was received on 13 July 2017.

 

I can confirm that your request is being dealt with under the terms of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 and that you can expect to receive a reply
within the timescale specified.

The timescale allowed for a response under the FOI legislation is 20

How you currently procure construction consultancy services, if via a
framework(s) can you list the names of the framework(s) used.

We either use a conventional tendering approach for each project or a term
consultancy approach.  This would have been tendered for a well using Due
North – electronic portal for tendering.

 

Request 2:

The total value spent on construction consultancy services in the past 2
years, broken down by year.

2015-16:

Scheme 1 Simmons House £405,000.00: Architects – Studio 4, Cost
Consultants and CDMC – Love Jenkins, Engineering (M+E)
Consultants – Axis Engineering, Fire Consultant – Fifth Avenue
and Structural Engineers – Elliot Wood Partnership
Scheme 2 Rapid Assessment Centre £250,000: Architects - Levitt Bernstein,
QS – Potter and Raper Partnership, Fire Consultant – Fifth Avenue
Scheme 3 Simulation Centre – Crouch End HC £76,000: Love Jenkins:
Architects and M+E
Scheme 4 Open Plan Offices – Jenner: £57,000: Love Jenkins

 

2016-17:

Pharmacy Scheme; Architects – AHP, Cost Consultant WT, Engineering
consultant SMP, Fire Consultant Gareth Bartlett

Which suppliers provided these services, with a percentage break down of
the value distribution

2015-16:

Scheme 1 Studio 4 = 9%, Love Jenkins = 2%, Axis Engineering = 2%, Cost
Consultants = 1%, Fire Consultant = £750.00
Scheme 2 Rapid Assessment Centre: Levitt Bernstein = 10%, QS = Potter and
Raper Partnership = 2%, Fire Consultant = £750.00
Scheme 3 Simulation Centre: Love Jenkins = 10%
Scheme 4 Open Plan Offices: Love Jenkins = 10%

 

2016-17: Pharmacy Shop=£184,000

AHP = £9100

Cost Consultants WT = £5500

Engineering Consultant SMP = £6000

Fire Consultant £1400

 

Request 4:

How you currently procure building contractor services, if via a
framework(s) can you list the names of the framework(s) used.

We at present go down the traditional route of spec and tender via Due
North which is an electronic tendering portal.

 

Request 5:

The total value spent on maintenance and construction in the past 2 years,
broken down by year.

2015-16 = £2,431.504.00; Storm, Select Plumbing, WandI Craigs, BSW Ltd,
Aylesbury Fire, K&H medical, APE, JW Security, Rayjon’s, George Varcas,
all England; TK Flooring, New Park, ARG, Advanced Environmental, JC
Watsons, Gaybank, Geze, Foley’s etc etc

2016-17 = £1,697.000.00; Storm, Select Plumbing, WandI Craigs, BSW Ltd,
Aylesbury Fire, K&H medical, APE, JW Security, Rayjon’s, George Varcas,
all England; TK Flooring, New Park, ARG, Advanced Environmental, JC

Request 6:

Which suppliers provided these services, with a percentage break down of
the value distribution?

With the exception of consultants used in Request 1 the rest of the
schemes were managed internally by the Trust Estates and Project
departments. The Trust costs for 2015-16 were £217,000 and for 2016-17 =
£250,000.

 

Request 7:

Can you provide a copy of your current estates / property plan / strategy
(or similar) and the value of your estates/property budget for the next
two years. See attached
