Private v state school admissions (offers accepted)
I am writing to request the following information under FOISA:
In each of the last six academic years, how many offers of a place to begin an undergraduate programme at your institution were accepted by (ie students matriculated and took up their place):
1. rUK (England, Wales, NI) domiciled students? How many of these gained their entry qualifications at a private or fee paying school?
2. EU domiciled students? How many of these who gained their entry qualifications at a private or fee paying school?
3. Scottish domiciled students who gained their entry qualifications at a private or fee paying school? if any of these applicants were in the SIMD20 regarding deprivation, please state how many.
4. overseas domiciled students? How many of these gained their entry qualifications at a private or fee paying school?
I would prefer the information broken down by academic year.

Thank you for your information request dated the 11^th June 2019. Your
request has been handled under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act
I am afraid that we had no business need to break down the data as
requested for 2013 and so some of the information is exempt from release
under Section of FOISA. Similarly we shall be providing you with SIMD
data in response to your further request dated the 1^st July 2019.

I am afraid we do not record whether the schools are fee paying or private
so this information is exempt from release under Section 17: Information
not held. We do however have a list of named schools should you wish to
look up their status on their respective websites (there are several
thousand). Should this help your research project, please let us know via
[Heriot-Watt University request email] and we can provide you with a copy.
Your right to seek review of our decision
If you are not satisfied with our response or our reasoning set-out above,
you have forty working days from today in which to request a review of our
decision. Any request should be put in writing and should be sent to Ann

bottom of this email. The request should:
(a) detail your request for a review of our decision to be undertaken;
(b) describe the nature of your original request; and
(c) explain the reasons why you are dissatisfied with our response.
If you remain dissatisfied with how your request for information has been
dealt with, you also have the right to apply to the Scottish Information
Commissioner for a decision as to whether we have handled your request
