Your request for information on Private Hire Vehicles access to Bus Lanes has now been considered and the information requested is detailed below.

1) The London Local Authorities Act 1996 (amended 2000) states that only specified vehicles (buses, taxis i.e. Hackney carriages, emergency services and bicycles) may enter the bus lane during operating hours. Private Hire vehicles may not. This is no different for restricting other vehicles such as cars, vans, lorries, mini buses etc

2) There are two bus lane in the Borough operating 7-10am in Chappel Road (eastbound). Cranbrook Road ( North) from Gants Hill operates 7-10 and 4-7pm.

Please find attached Traffic Management Order for Cranbrook/ Chappel Road.
