Private affordable housing

We're waiting for Alex to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Westminster City Council,

Why has the Westminster Council allowed the sale of over 140 luxury flats and occupation of the commercial offices at Rathbone Square, including by allowing Facebook to move into the new offices, while the 20 affordable flats part of the same development have been empty/unoccupied for over a year. This goes completely against the Council’s firm stance on affordable housing given the desperate need to house people in our borough. What good is it having affordable units in the planning permission if they sit empty? How long will the Council stand by why these perfectly ready flats remain empty?

What, if any, steps is the Council taking to hold the registered housing provider accountable for moving ahead with the sales in a reasonable time period to ensure the affordable units are occupied as soon as possible?

What, if any, help is the Council providing the registered housing provider to move ahead with sale of the affordable units if the registered housing provider is unable resolve any outstanding legal matters with the private freeholder of the site?

Yours faithfully,

Alex
