Could you please provide the following information for continuing healthcare (CHC) for Prison Institutions.

1. Which organisational body is responsible for funding continuing healthcare (CHC) in prisons? (the prison itself, local CCG etc)

2. Can you please provide the total expenditure on continuing healthcare (CHC) for each prison in 2015/16?

3. Can you please provide the total expenditure on funded nursing care (FNC) for each prison in 2015/16?

4. What was the average number of patients receiving CHC and FNC funding in 2015/16 for each prison? Please provide a total figure and split by each category

NHS England are responsible for providing the funding for individuals in
prison.

 

 

2. Can you please provide the total expenditure on continuing healthcare
(CHC) for each prison in 2015/16?

NHS England does not hold information in relation to this part of your
request.

 

We cannot disaggregate expenditure for continuing healthcare (CHC) and
funded nursing care (FNC) as this would be included in the overall
financial arrangements with the healthcare provider.

 

 

4. What was the average number of patients receiving CHC and FNC funding
in 2015/16 for each prison? Please provide a total figure and split by
each category

 

NHS England does not hold information in relation to this part of your
request.

 

NHS England has adopted a commissioning approach which supports integrated
health provision across all prisons in England. Due to this overall
contracted approach it is not possible to identify CHC or FNC costs within
the overall contract.

NHS England holds some information in relation to your request

 

NHS England is refusing parts of this request under Section 14(2) of the
FOI Act (repeat requests). Section 14(2) states that public bodies are not
obliged to comply with a request which is identical, or substantially
similar to a previous request submitted by the same individual, unless a
reasonable period has elapsed between those requests.

 

NHS England has already provided a response to questions 1 and 2 contained
within your original request (FOI-053126) and is unable to provide any
further information. We have attached a copy of our previous response for

Section 14(2) is an absolute exemption and therefore not subject to the
public interest test when considering disclosure of information.
