Dear Eliza,

Further to your recent request for information, the University’s response follows.

1: How much money was left un-spent from student printing accounts broken down into the academic years 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14 so far.

The University introduced a new improved centrally managed printing/photocopying system across the whole University in the Summer of 2012. This replaced separate provision within Faculties and LRCs for student printing and photocopying. The University does not hold data for unspent student printing funds by academic year, and therefore we can only provide a snapshot of all unclaimed credits at this moment in time on the new managed print service. The figure for unused print credit at the current time is £17,083. Please note that this amount includes unspent credit on the accounts of all current students as well as those who may have completed their studies. It may also include any transfer of live credits left over from the previous system in the LRC. In addition the University provided a £1.00 credit to all returning students to compensate for any loss of credit from the previous LRC photocopying system, at the time of transfer to the new system. This will also be included in this figure if students have not chosen to use the printing/copying facilities.

2. What have these un-spent funds been used for, broken down into the academic years above?

Unclaimed credits will be re-invested towards the continuous improvement programme of the service provision. This will include the replacement and purchase of additional multi-functional printer/copier devices as required. As explained above we do not hold the data by academic year.

This completes the University’s response to your information request. If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our decision please contact:

Head of Secretariat, Kingston University, River House, 53-57 High Street, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 1LQ.

In the event that you are not content with the outcome of your complaint you may apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the Information Commissioner cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints procedure provided by Kingston University. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:

The Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

I hope that you now have all the information you require.

Kind regards,

Lyn
