Dear Mr/Ms Bagias,
Thank you for your request for information received on 1^st February 2013. You requested:
“a list of all UK schools, with their address, email address, telephone number and number of
pupils”
I have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and a copy of the
information as held by the Department as at 8^th February 2013 is attached.
I have prepared for you on an Excel spreadsheet –
A standard extract of all Educational establishments (including, LA Maintained, Independent,
Academies, CTCs, Free Schools, Studio Schools Further Education and Higher Education) in
England with addresses, Head Teacher details, school email addresses and telephone number
where available.
At present the Department does not hold individual Head Teacher or school staff email
information, and for this reason we have supplied you with the school email address where
possible.
The extract can be sorted to your own requirements by Phase of Education (primary, secondary
etc.) or Type of Establishment (academy, free school, community school, etc.). Further
information on these and other terms used within this extract can be found in the EduBase
glossary: [1]http://www.education.gov.uk/edubase/glos...
Pupil numbers are taken from the spring 2012 School Census collection, any school which has
opened since that collection will have no figures relating to number of pupils on role.
The Department does not hold information for educational establishments in Scotland, Wales
and Northern Ireland. This information may be available using the following links:
Scotland [2]http://www.educationscotland.gov.uk/
Wales
[3]http://new.wales.gov.uk/topics/statistic...
Northern Ireland [4]http://www.deni.gov.uk/
As part of the data extract we have included the school Unique Reference Number (URN) so
that if you require further information on any particular school record please go to
[5]www.education.gov.uk/edubase where you will be able to view more information.
If you have any further issues or queries please do not hesitate to contact the EduBase
helpdesk using the feedback form: [6]http://www.education.gov.uk/edubase/feed...

Dear Department for Education,
You mention in your reply that you will supply the school email address where possible, however none are available in the document.
It is clear that this information is available but not being shared, as there is a column of school email addresses that have been replaced by x's, such as [email address]
These seem to be genuine email addresses for the schools as each is different in length.
Please could you re-send the document with school addresses made visible?
Yours faithfully,
Fen Bagias
Mr Bagias
Apologies if the file you received had the email addresses encrypted. I
am afraid this is the problem of using the whatdotheyknow.com website for
freedom of information requests.
The file I ran for you has the email addresses included but for some
reason this website blanks them all out.
If you can provide me with an alternative email address, I will send the
file to you via this route
