Good Morning,

REF: Freedom of Information Request - FOIA1080

The University has completed its search for the information requested by you under the Freedom of Information Act. In response to your request for information relating to preventing and dealing with sexual harassment, please see below:

1. Does the University have a policy for staff regarding sexual harassment/misconduct between (a) staff and staff, (b) staff and students? If so, please provide this, preferably a link to it or electronically. Such a policy might concern definitions, how to report, processes, and so on.

The University does not have a separate policy for such incidents but this type of behaviour would be covered under the following sections:

Staff section:

•Code of conduct for Employee Behaviour - See attached
•Disciplinary procedure - See attached
•Bullying and Harassment Policy - See attached

Student section:

•Sexual assault policy - See attached

2. What kind of training (e.g. online or in-person; voluntary or compulsory) is provided to staff regarding sexual harassment/misconduct? Approximately how many staff have undergone this training in the last year? [or last year that has available data]

All staff undertake mandatory Coventry Essentials Module “Student Disclosure of Unwanted Sexual Incidents.” This was an online module designed by Rape Crisis England and Wales to support staff in responding to disclosures in 2016. Staff workshops have been developed and piloted around harassment and hate incidents which will include sex as a protected characteristic and are looking to be rolled out face to face and online by next academic year. As part of the workshops, a staff pathway document is undergoing final checks in order for a finished product to run alongside the workshops. The Case manager for Harassment and Hate incidents has also been supporting staff with informal awareness raising and presentations incorporating sex since 2018.

3. In the last year [or last year that has available data], how many cases of alleged sexual harassment/misconduct by staff (staff-student or staff-staff) have been reported to the university?

3 cases have been reported to the Harassment Report project.
