Prevent and trans and non-binary persons

Sam Andrews made this Freedom of Information request to Birmingham Safeguarding Children Board as part of a batch sent to 8 authorities
This authority is not subject to FOI law, so is not legally obliged to respond (details).
This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Response to this request is long overdue. Although not legally required to do so, we would have expected Birmingham Safeguarding Children Board to have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Birmingham Safeguarding Children Board,

I am writing to you to get some information on your Prevent policy, and how it might relate to trans persons and non-binary persons.

Please provide me with the following information:

-Are trans identities considered to be a vulnerability when making assessments of referrals to Channel or Prevent? If so please provide further information.

- Are non-binary identities considered to be a vulnerability when making assessments of referrals to Channel or Prevent? If so please provide further information.

-Do you have policies or guidelines relating to trans or non-binary persons in your Prevent strategy or policy implementation? If so please provide a copy of these policies or guidelines.

-Have any referrals received identified as trans or non-binary? Were these cases recorded according to their chosen identity, or otherwise? If so, please provide statistics where available.

-Do sex-exclusionary Prevent events (eg. women only events) allow trans persons who identify as that sex, or non-binary persons, to attend?

-If no to any or all of the above questions, are policies related to trans or non-binary people and Prevent being developed or discussed?

Thanks

Sam

Yours faithfully,

Sam Andrews
