Prescribing data for Multiple Sclerosis

NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group did not have the information requested.

Dear NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group,

The MS Society is collecting the following information from every CCG in the Country to help us understand the national picture better in relation to prescribing. To help us with our research, we are requesting the following information through the Freedom of Information Act.

1. How many people with MS in your CCG (including the source for this number):
a. Relapsing-Remitting MS
b. Primary Progressive MS
c. Secondary Progressive MS
d. Benign MS
e. Unconfirmed Type

2. The percentage of each of 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, and 1e, who receive an annual review by a healthcare professional with expertise in MS, and it’s complications (NICE guidelines (CG 186) for the period Jan-Dec 2015.

3. The current waiting times targets for accessing an appointment with a Consultant Neurologist with MS expertise for:

a. New appointments
b. Follow up appointments

4. The number of Individual Funding Requests (IFRs) received for each of the below treatments for the period Jan-Dec 2015.

5. The number of people with MS currently being prescribed the following licensed treatments for multiple sclerosis
a. Avonex (Beta interferon – 1a)
b. Aubagio® (Teriflunomide)
c. Betaferon (Interferon beta 1b)
d. Botox (Botulinum toxin)
e. Copaxone (Glatiramer Acetate)
f. Extavia (Beta interferon – 1b)
g. Fampyra® (Fampridine)
h. Gilenya (Fingolimod)
i. Lemtrada (Alemtuzumab)
j. Plegridy (Peginterferon beta 1a)
k. Rebif® (Beta interferon – 1a)
l. Sativex (Nabiximols)

I am writing to you on behalf of NHS Great Yarmouth & Waveney Clinical

for this service however patients can opt to be treated by other providers
in accordance with the NHS Constitution.  Regarding questions 4 and 5
please note treatments for this condition are commissioned via the
Specialised Commissioning Function delivered by NHSE.  You may wish to
refer your request to them via the contact details on their [2]website.

 

2.     The percentage of each of 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, and 1e, who receive an
annual review by a healthcare professional with expertise in MS, and it’s
complications (NICE guidelines (CG 186) for the period Jan-Dec 2015.
