Pre-1980 Adoptions
Dear Aberdeen City Council,
I would like to make a request under FOISA.
If you have any queries about the following request please contact me here asap for clarification.
My request relates to "forced adoptions", ie adoptions which took place in the 20th century prior to the 1978 Adoption (Scotland) Act. These adoptions sometimes took place in institutions referred to as mother and baby homes.
I am aware that most local authorities partner with at least one specialist agency (like Birthlink) which can provide counselling, intermediary or information services to adoptees and biological family members. I would like to know how many women (birth mothers) affected by pre-1980 adoptions have approached the council seeking counselling support in each of the last 5 years?
Yours faithfully,
elizabeth thomson
