Potholes and road defects
Good afternoon,
I would like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information act:
1. The total number of potholes and/or road defects reported in your local area, broken down by month for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 to date.
2. The total number of potholes and/or road defects fixed by the council, broken down by month for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 to date.
3. The amount of money spent by the council on fixing potholes and/or road defects broken down by year, for 2019, 2020 and 2021 (calendar years if possible, please).
4. The total amount of money paid out in compensation due to potholes and/or road defects, broken down by year for 2019, 2020, 2021 (calendar years if possible, please).
5. And if possible, please can you give an indication of the amount of time taken to fix a single pothole (from starting work on the fix to the road being open again)?
If limited by time, please prioritise in order of Q1, Q2, Q3, etc.
If possible, please provide data in an Excel format.

Thank you for your request for information that was received on 31 August
2021 concerning
1. The total number of potholes and/or road defects reported in your local
area, broken down by month for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 to date.
2. The total number of potholes and/or road defects fixed by the council,
broken down by month for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 to date.
3. The amount of money spent by the council on fixing potholes and/or road
defects broken down by year, for 2019, 2020 and 2021 (calendar years if
possible, please).
4. The total amount of money paid out in compensation due to potholes
and/or road defects, broken down by year for 2019, 2020, 2021 (calendar
years if possible, please).
5. And if possible, please can you give an indication of the amount of
time taken to fix a single pothole (from starting work on the fix to the
road being open again)?
We are dealing with your request and we aim to send a response by 28
September 2021.
We aim to respond within twenty working days, however please be aware that
during these very challenging times it may be necessary to extend this
time period for requests directed at those teams who have diverted
resources to deal with the public health emergency or where there are
officer absences.
In some cases, a fee may be payable. If we decide a fee is payable, we
will send you a fee notice and we will require you to pay the fee before
proceeding with your request.
The Act may restrict the release of some or all of the information you
have requested. We will carry out an assessment and if any exemptions or
exceptions apply to some or all of the information then we might not
provide that information to you. We will inform you if this is the case
and advise you of your rights to request an internal review and to
complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
We will also advise you if we cannot provide you with the information
requested for any other reason together with the reason(s) why and details
of how you may appeal (if appropriate).
Please note that due to staff absences and workload priorities within
services during this difficult time because of COVID 19 we may not be
able to respond to your request within the normal 20 working day
timeframe, however we will try to respond where possible.
