Dear Aimee Stanton,

Request pursuant to Freedom of Information Act 2000 – Request No. 21025

I refer to your recent enquiry for information held by the Council.

Under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act, the authority must
state whether or not the information exists and I confirm that we do hold
the information requested.

Please find the information you requested below.

You requested:

Prior to this year we did not record pothole number only works orders
raised.  Works orders could be for numerous potholes and therefore this is
in no way an accurate figure.  It is also very subjective on what an
inspector is classifying as a pothole or surface defect or patch.  We have
only included those orders which the inspector has raised as pothole.

We have only included potholes reported to the council from external
sources, no potholes that we have identified ourselves.

1. The total number of potholes reported to the council, broken down by
month, for the calendar years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023
(to date).  Answer: Attached

2. The total number of potholes repaired by the council, broken down by
month, for the calendar years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023
(to date). Answer: Attached

3. The total amount of money paid out in compensation due to potholes,
broken down by calendar year in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and
2023 (to date). Answer: Attached.

4. The amount of money spent by the council on fixing potholes, broken
down by calendar year in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 (to
date). Answer: We do not record costs in specific to pothole repairs, it
is tied up with overall spend by Highways.
